So this morning in Matins, Mother Ivonne got talking on a random note about the Holidays coming up. I think she said (from my translation) that one of the children asked her about birthdays being Holidays... and here is what I gathered from that...
Mother Ivonne:
"Sometime we get confused with the holidays. Why are there so many? When will we know what holidays are the right ones to celebrate?
Let's think about this is English; they say, "Merry Christmas" - The first part of the word Christmas is clear "Christ", but what is the second part? "Mas" in Spanish means "more" so we are saying Merry: Happy, Christmas: More Christ! How beautiful is that?
Ok, how about if they don't say Merry Christmas, people say Happy Holidays. Break that down... Happy: Wishing you, Holidays: Days that are HOLY! It all translates to be the same.
